Maurice Ephrati, David Joory, Sandy Koifman and Ariel Arazi founded Bedrock in 2004; the ambition was to create one of the first independent investment boutiques providing global investment and advisory capabilities.

Today Bedrock has offices in London, Geneva, Zurich and Monaco and a team of 100 investment professionals who oversee over US$10 billion of client assets. In 2015, Bedrock was ranked 3rd in Europe and 25th globally in the Bloomberg Family office rankings.

Having started his career in 1993 with the Republic National Bank of New York in Switzerland as a proprietary trader, Ariel went on to join the bank’s treasury team to co-manage - longside David - a portfolio of Fixed Income, FX and Emerging Market debt of more than USD 10 billion. Subsequently, from 2000 to 2004, Ariel went on to work with the Safra Family Office in Geneva where he co-managed - alongside David - the financial assets and the foundation of the Safra family. Ariel holds a BSc in Business and Economics from the University of Geneva.

Maurice was a practicing business lawyer in Geneva before going on to become a director at an international commodities trading company. Subsequently, Maurice joined Union Bancaire Privée in Geneva as a senior member of management, in charge of several private banking divisions as well as the Family Office Operation. From 2000 to 2004, Maurice served on the Private Banking Executive Board of Banque Privée Edmond de Rothschild in Geneva. Maurice graduated with honours from law school in 1988 and passed the Bar exam with honours in 1990. He has also completed programs in Finance at INSEAD in 1994, and in Financial Asset Management & Engineering (FAME) at HEC, Lausanne in 1997.

David started his career in 1988 with the Republic National Bank of New York as an FX trader. In 1993 he moved to the treasury department, where he co-managed - together with Ariel - the proprietary positions of the group’s European arm, Safra Republic Holdings, directly alongside the Chairman, Edmond J. Safra. From 2000 to 2004, David was with the Safra Family Office in Geneva, where he was responsible for managing the assets of the Edmond J. Safra Philanthropic Foundation as well as the Safra family’s financial assets. David holds a BSc in Business and Economics from the University of Geneva.

From 2000 to 2011, Jihad headed the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) platform at HSBC Private Bank Monaco.  Prior to this, he worked for Republic National Bank of New York starting in NY in 1987 and moving to Monaco in 1989 until the HSBC takeover in 2000.  At Republic he helped set up the equity and Bond trading desk and in the process developed friendships with Ariel, David and Sandy. Jihad has a degree in Civil Engineering from Rice University in Houston and a Masters in Structural Design from Columbia University in New York.

Roberto joined Bedrock in 2011 from Safdié Bank Geneva where he was in charge of Latin America Private Banking as Head of Brasil and Portugal Team.  Prior to that, Roberto was the Director of the Multi Commercial Bank in the Brazilian head office of Brazil Safdié group in São Paulo.  Roberto brings with him an extensive financial market experience acquired during the past 28 years during which he also worked at Safra Bank, São Paulo.  From all these experiences he has built a solid relationship with clients and has an international experience in portfolio management. Roberto has a degree in Business Administration from Mackenzie University in São Paulo and an executive certificate from Fundação Getulio Vargas in São Paulo in Financial Administration, he is also a certified Investment Agent in Brasil.

Robert joined Bedrock in 2008.  Previously, he was a partner at Pinnacle Capital, a joint venture with Dekabank. Prior to that, he was a member of the executive committee of Via Capital, the real estate investment banking subsidiary of Aareal Bank, where he was responsible for originating and structuring real estate securitisation transactions.  Robert also spent 6 years as a director within the investment banking unit of Commerzbank and 4 years at UBS in London, both within the debt capital markets areas where he originated and structured Eurobond and mortgage backed securities. Robert graduated with an M.Sc in Engineering from the Royal School of Mines at Imperial College, London in 1992.

Konstantin holds a PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) and finished a MSc Chemical Engineering in ETH Zurich.

Keyvan joined Bedrock in 2005 from a private equity company where he was a partner between 2000 and 2005.  Keyvan was responsible for investment management with an emphasis on an internet BtoB platform.  Prior to that, Keyvan was an internal audit associate for Union Bancaire Privée in Geneva, where he managed the team auditing the Private Banking, Trading and FX desks, as well as the asset management department for the various offices (Geneva, London, New York, Nassau).  Keyvan was strongly involved in all compliance and procedure issues for both firms. Keyvan is a graduate of the Geneva Law School.

Song joined Bedrock in 2015 from Banque Privee Edmond de Rothschild, where she was a vice president covering mainland China markets from 2011 until 2015 and was responsible for relationships with Chinese mainland clients.  Prior to this, Song was a trust manager for Ping An Insurance Group in China, where she managed a team building family trusts for wealthy Chinese families, as well as, actively managing their assets.   During 2010, Song successfully built and managed one of the biggest family trust assets in China. Song started to work in Switzerland in 2005, attending the University of Zurich as a visiting scholar.  Between 2006-2009 she started with HSBC Private Banking SA in Zurich and later worked in their headquarters in Geneva. Song holds a Masters degree in Economics since 2001.

Ani joined Bedrock in 2013 from BNP Paribas Private Banking where she was a Senior Investment Advisor since 2007 incharge of Russian and Middle Eastern clients.  Prior to this, Ani worked as a financial analyst for several years at Morgan Stanley.  Before that, she was with Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch Asset Management in a similar position as a dedicated analyst for the equity funds team where she was involved in the investment process and decision-making.  Ani started her career as a statistician economist for the in-focus  program on socio-economic Security for the International Labour Organisation in the UN where she elaborated an Index used today for economic security purposes from the UN. Ani graduated from the University of Geneva in Financial and Monetary Economics and she holds a DEA degree in Financial Markets.  Ani has completed two years of the University of Geneva’s Doctorate Program in finance.  Out of a personal interest, Ani has also followed several international and political science courses.

Richard joined Bedrock in 2014 to create a fund to invest in iconic, blue chip, private, internet-related companies. Since launching Technology Opportunity Partners, Richard has had primary responsibility for deploying over $70M in equity in leading tech companies. Before partnering with Bedrock, Richard was an active direct investor in both early- and late-stage technology businesses. Richard joined Index Ventures in 2001 where he was a partner in the life science practice. Prior to Index, Richard built Europe’s largest speciality pharmacy - MediService – which was acquired by Galenica. From 1990 to 1993 Richard worked in Zurich for McKinsey & Co. Richard graduated with an AB in Economics, History and an MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.

Alexandre "Sandy" Koifman | Advisor

From 2001 to 2004, Sandy was a Senior Investment Consultant with IRR Capital, managing a portfolio of more than EUR 600 million. Prior to that, Sandy was General Manager of the Republic National Bank of New York (Switzerland), Treasurer of Safra Republic Holdings, Chairman and CEO of the Republic Group's fund management arm and member of Executive, Credit and Treasury Committees. He headed with success the group's proprietary trading activities.

Sandy graduated from New York University Stern School of Business in 1980 with an MBA in Finance, having earned a BA in Economics from Tel Aviv University in 1978.

ALEXANDRE FEDEROVSKI | Advisor

Alexandre is a former trader on the non-ferrous metal market and a former member of the Board of Directors of RAW RESOURCES (based in Moscow), a company that specialisesin the trading of oil, oil-based products and non-ferrous metals. He was also a director and a shareholder of FABULA GMBH and a member of the Board of Directors of EXPONOR SA , both of whom specialisedin the export/import of the non-ferrous metal markets.

Alexandre is currently investing in various projects in the field of mining and mineral processing Alexandre is a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism at the University of Latvia. He is a German citizen and a permanent resident of Switzerland.

RICHARD RIMER | Advisor

Richard has been active in technology since the early 90’s, building deep-rooted relationships with key stakeholders in the tech community as well as acting as a direct investor in both early- and late-stage technology businesses. Richard worked in Zurich for McKinsey & Co before going on to build MediService, which became Europe’s largest specialty pharmacy. Following MediService’s acquisition by Galenica, Richard joined Index Ventures in 2001 as a partner in the life science practice.

Richard currently leads Technology Opportunity Partners (TOP), which he founded in partnership with Bedrock, to invest in iconic, blue chip, private, internet-related companies. Since launching TOP, Richard has had primary responsibility for deploying over $120M in equity in leading tech companies. Richard graduated with an AB in Economics, History and an MA in International Policy Studies from Stanford University.

PHILIPPE PERLES | Non-Executive Board Member

Philippe Perles is a Senior Partner of Noveo Conseil SA, a management-consulting company based in Geneva, Paris and London. He has a 30 years’ track record in Business Consulting, Commodity Trading and Private Banking industries. Philippe has participated in the planning, design, and implementation of large infrastructures for several major banks, financial companies and commodity traders.

Philippe is an Independent Board Member at Bank Edmond de Rothschild (Suisse) SA. He is also an Independent Board Member at Bedrock Realtime SA, Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) solutions for Independent Asset Managers, Trust Companies and Private Banks. Philippe is a Board Member at ARIF, Self-regulating organization (SRO) for prevention of Money laundering in the financial sector based on the Money Laundering Act (MLA).

Prior to Noveo Conseil, Philippe was a Principal at Sherwood Alliance, an Arthur D. Little consulting company. Previously, he was also Member of the Management at Crédit Lyonnais (Suisse) SA.  His resume includes former various management positions in Private Banking and Trade Finance industries.

Philippe has a degree in Commercial and Industrial Sciences from the University of Geneva in Switzerland. He is a native French speaker and is fluent in English.

SABBY MIONIS | Non-Executive Board Member

Sabby Mionis is a prominent private equity investor and a member of the Board of Directors of Bedrock. Sabby was previously the CEO and CIO of the CMA group of companies, a USD 3 billion investment company which he founded in 1997 and sold to EFG international in February 2006.  Sabby was been responsible for building all operational and investment aspects of the CMA business. Under Sabby’s leadership, the CMA Funds had a successful track record and he was also actively involved in developing the CMA structured product business, creating innovative products for CMA’s clients and establishing relationships with the world’s leading structuring banks. Sabby is a respected figure in the real estate and investment fund industry and has participated as a speaker in several industry conferences. Prior to founding CMA, Sabby worked in the Investment Services Group of Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette (‘‘DLJ’’) from 1992 to 1997. Sabby holds a BA in Economics from Brandeis University.
